Violet - Mesmerizing, Intriguing, Gripping, Oh My!
In 1988 Kris Barlow was forced to say goodbye to her dying month. Three decades later her husband dies as well, killed in a car accident. Kris returns home, a house overlooking Lost Lake, with her 8 year old daughter to grieve. But a shadow has covered this small town and evil is growing. Inside the home that Kris last saw her mother, an old friend awaits her return.
Can I just start off saying I told you so?! I knew Thomas would kill it again! This book was so very mesmerizing. Intriguing. Entrancing. Gripping. I had such a hard time putting this book down to do my simple errands of the day. All I could think about was this book. It took me and kept me until the end. Even now I’m being tugged by a string to stay.
We start out with such a traumatic event that takes root in our soul. Makes you automatically have such deep feelings for the characters in the book. Connects you to them. You’ll forever be a part of this family and the towns secrets.
As a parent I could definitely relate to the character and her worries for her child. This is something that never goes away. There is always that voice in your head telling you you are doing it right or you’re doing it wrong.
I was pleasantly surprised in the end to find out what had truly happened in the ‘80s and throughout the years. Sometimes what you remember as happy memories can be very deceiving and untrustworthy. I can’t wait to see what other work comes out from Scott Thomas in the future. I just know I am ready for it.
