Top 10 Jason Kills - The Best of the Best
Here we go, the top 10 Jason Voorhees kills, a list by yours truly, Doug Klein. This list is only Jason Kills, so I did not include any Pamela Voorhees or Roy Burns kills. This is a list of personal favorites, so you can choose to love it, hate it, agree or disagree. Alright, that said, lets get to the list.
10. Friday The 13: Part III - Vera - Harpoon in the eye
Okay, this one always stuck out to me. This was the start of us all knowing that despite being known for his close combat abilities, Jason also was quite a marksman. Our poor girl Vera is at the wrong end of a quite accurate harpoon gun shot straight into the eye. Jason clearly thought nothing of the shot, with the way he just casually strode off screen, the confidence of a man who knows how good he is. The face Vera makes with a harpoon in her eye is also quite memorable. Great kill overall.
9. Friday the 13th: Part II - Ralph - Garroted with barbed wire
Oh, Ralph. You were so wise. Yet, when it came down to it, Jason killed you mafia style, and it was just amazing. Ralph getting garroted on a tree nonetheless, made it even better, as the giant tree obscured Jason from the scene, but his meaty hands gave us the idea of how easy that was. The kill was a little hard to watch, and killed off a somewhat memorable character, so kudos Jason.
8. Freddy Vs. Jason - Trey - Stabbed and folded
Trey. What a dick. This kill ends up on the list because I was waiting for this character to get it, and boy did Jason deliver. The unnecessary amount of stabs to the back felt good enough, but the V-shaped bed fold Trey gets sends this into the stratosphere of great horror kills. I won't lie that I both cringed and laughed at this one. Solid all the way.
7. Jason Goes To Hell - Deborah - Split in half in the tent
Jason Goes To Hell. This one got on the list because TECHNICALLY it was Jason, just by spirit, so we can count it. Mainly due to the intense gore in this one, I had to put it on the list. A road sign impalement through a tent followed with an upwards yank that splits poor Deborah in half, all while in the nude. Jason Goes To Hell has a lot of heavy gore to make up for a batshit premise, but this one is the cream of the crop.
6. Friday The 13th: The New Blood - Judy - Sleeping bag slam
One word for this kill. Classic. This is hands down one of the most iconic Jason kills not involving a machete. The setup, the sound, everything about it just reeks of awesome. Why not higher on the list? For how iconic it is, it really is a quite simple kill, and for that I had to put a few others above, but this still is an amazing kill.
5. Friday The 13th: Part III- Andy - Handstand hack
Not many horror movie slasher villains can lay claim to nailing a kill on a guy doing a handstand, but Jason has got this one covered. The audacity of someone doing a handstand walk at Camp Crystal Lake has to have some sort of retribution. The camera angles used for this one make it very unique, and the postmortem shot of Andy stuffed up in the rafters add insult to injury. This was also another kill that gave me quite a chuckle.
4. Friday the 13th: Part III - Rick - Head squeeze eye shot
So it seems Part III is really racking up the tallies in this one, and this one is the top one from that film for me. Why? Because of how bad it was and how brutal it was. So we can all agree that this was an ambitious attempt at SFX that just missed the mark, maybe due to the 3-D aspect of this film in particular. It misses so hard that this one had me laughing real hard, and its almost more memorable that way. The thing that gets me is think of how brutal it is to squeeze someones head until their EYE shoots out of their skull? Like, that is ridiculous and terrifying in itself.
3. Friday the 13th: Part 2 - Marc - Wheelchair machete to face and a trip down the stairs
This kill needs the Benny Hill theme thrown on it. Seriously. The chop to the face is brutal. The roll back to a GIANT SET OF STAIRS. Why are there so many stairs? Where is the handicap ramp Marc took to get to the top? We may never know. But seeing Marc, machete in face, tumbling down the stairs sent me over the edge. Tears in my eyes, I had to re-watch that one like five times to actually process that it happened. Amazing.
2. Jason Takes Manhattan - Julius Gray - Boxing punch
Julius Gray gave Jason all he had, and dammit, it was almost enough. I remember watching him land blow after blow, moving Jason further to the edge of building, and it started to feel like a horror version of Rocky. But Julius, he did not slay the beast. One mean punch from Jason not only knocks Julius's head straight off, but in some Dude Perfect way it goes straight into a dumpster below. I will always remember this kill, and its one of the best reasons to ever watch Jason Takes Manhattan.
1. Jason X - Adrienne - Frozen face smash
Jason X. To some it is the worst, and to others, it is simply the best. They took Jason to space, and they also delivered the best Jason kill I have ever seen. Adrienne makes the fatal mistake of not paying attention to Jason, and leaving a sink of freezing liquid nitrogen unattended. Jason gets creative, and gives Adrienne a swirly in the nitrogen, freezing her face, then smashes her face to pieces on the countertop. The unique way this was executed was amazing, and is always the first kill I think of when talking about Jason Voorhees.
Special Mention
Jason X: The two horny holograms in sleeping bags.
This made me laugh the most of anything I've ever seen in a horror movie. Everything about it is comedy gold. That's all. The repeated slams into the tree is something else.
