Mail Bag Time! Used bookstore finds and some horror tees!

January 11, 2019 by Charlotte Hollingsworth in Mail Bag

I recently got back from a trip to Calgary to visit my family for second Christmas. And Calgary means tones of second hand book stores, Goodwills and Value Villages. See, in Vancouver, everything is super overpriced so even at a Value Village it’s pretty intense. And the second hand book stores…you might as well buy a brand new book since it’s the same price.

So once a year I get to go nuts in the stores and fill up my shelves and my to-be-read list. Which is already out of control…

Let’s dive in!

These were my Value Village finds. The Final Destination with the special 3D cover and Dracula Untold still in its’ original plastic, never been watched. I also grabbed Hannibal Rising which I already have a hardcover edition of, but now I have a paperback! The book and the movies were $3 each.

These were all at Goodwill. John Saul is really hit or miss for me but you can get his books for like $3 so it’s worth trying every time. Also got some great horror finds - Hatchet, the Prom Night remake, Red Eye, White Noise, and the original Poltergeist. All the DVD’s were $2 and the books were $3.

Picked these up in the sale bins at Walmart for $5 each. I also grabbed All The Creatures Were Stirring. You can check out my review for that here.

New teeeeees! The Michael Jackson one and the ET one I found on a sales rack at Old Navy for $13 each. The Leprechaun one I found on a sales rack at Hot Topic for $8. The Jaws tee is from Walmart, $15. Pennywise, Jason Lives and Scream are also from Hot Topic. They had a buy two get one free sale!

These I picked up from Fair’s Fair. Was really stoked to find the book adaptation for Crimson Peak since that’s one of my favs. I’m also giving Nick Cutter another try….we’ll see. Fair’s Fair has varied pricing based on the popularity of the book and the condition. Most of these were $5.

Some adorable socks that my parents got me for Christmas!

My mom also asked me to go through my childhood books and sort out which ones to keep and which ones to donate. Look at all the spooky goodies I found! Thanks kid version of Charlotte for having great reading taste!

An amazing haul! A big thank you to my parents for buying a lot of this for me for Christmas. I’m incredibly spoiled for having parents that 100% support my horror world, even when I was a tiny kid.

Taking these back on the plane SUCKED though. Sorry to all the people around me who heard me grunting and saw me sweating getting a bag full of these books into the overhead bin.
