A lot happened this week so buckle up and let’s jump right into episode six “Return to Murder House”.
Chablis and Madison have officially purchased the Murder House, and the realtor explains to them that 36 people that he knows of have died there. But Madison and Chablis are like whatevs we’re witches and enter the home.
Inside they both feel a lot of energy and Chablis proclaims, “this is not a home, this is a prison”. The two witches do a spell that brings forth the spirits so they can see them. They need to find out how Michael Langdon is attached to this house.
Instantly they see a dead nurse, and some dead kids, and then find Tate having a therapy session with Ben, both from season one. Turns out in the after-life Violet is still suuuuuper pissed that Tate raped her mom. Which….yeah….fair enough.
Madison interrupts them and then Billie Dean Howard shows up. She was the medium from season one and now she stays around the house to protects the spirits. THEN….(this is all within like the first ten minutes of the show)…..a completely epic moment as Jessica Lange returns.
Constance Langdon comes down the stairs and is all “I’m Constance Langdon and this is my fucking house.” My pores were cleared, my crops were watered, and my hair began to shine. Because Jessica fucking Lange is back on AHS and she is flawless and amazing and ugh. I just. I MISSED HER.
Moira’s there too, she was Constance’s maid and Constance is still irritated by her. Madison and Chablis ask Constance to tell them about Michael but she won’t help unless they permanently remove the spirit of Moira.
So, Madison and Chablis dig through the 36 bodies buried all in this house/yard and finally find Moira’s bones. In a very emotional moment Moira says she wants to be buried with her mother. After she’s reburied in the same grave as her mother, her spirit is finally at peace.
Constance is just thrilled she can finally get some peace and quiet.
The deal has been made and so Constance sits down with her cigarettes, her Crown Royale, and tells the story of Michael.
After Vivian dies giving birth to Michael, Constance takes him and raises him. When he was a baby she would find dead flies in his crib with their wings pulled off. And as he got older, he’d leave her dead rodents around the house as gifts. Constance would bury them in the yard under rose bushes. She knew that he would turn into a serial killer as he was showing all the signs. And after he kills his babysitter, Constance realizes that she’s been put on this earth to raise monsters, and she comes to terms with it. She’ll love and raise Michael properly, regardless of the monster he’s becoming.
One morning she finds he has aged ten years over night and is now a teenager. She sees the evil within him but continues to love and raise him. One night she wakes up to him strangling her in bed. But half way through he realizes what he’s doing and begins to cry. Constance invites a priest over but Michael kills him too.
That’s when Constance realizes there’s no hope for him, he is just pure evil 100%. So, she decides to kill herself. She wakes up as a spirit and sees all her dead children there to greet her and she’s finally happy.
Super sad. But super dark.
Then Ben steps in and picks up the story. After Constance dies, Ben reveals himself to Michael. Even though Michael isn’t his son, he feels responsible for him and so he tries to raise him. They play games together and do therapy and spend a tone of time together. But then Michael finds Tate’s rubber man suit and Tate loses his shit and tells him that he’s not his father, and is just super cruel.
Murder House gets sold to a newly married couple, and Michael murders them both as soon as they step foot in the house. Ben realizes how powerful Michael really is and gives up on him.
Poor Michael, constantly getting abandoned and yelled at. He cries basically this whole episode.
Then Vivian shows up to Madison and Chablis and shares the ending of this tragic, long winding tale. Three hooded figures arrived at Murder House one day looking for Michael.
Those three hooded figures are Satanists. One is Ms. Mead, one is not named, and the third is Anton Lavey who apparently faked his death only to wait for the Anti-Christ to finally reveal himself. Which is Michael Langdon.
Michael is thrilled obviously. And the four of them waste no time throwing a black mass. Ms. Mead goes and kidnaps a young woman and they rip her heart out.
Vivian witnesses all this happening and decides she needs to kill Michael and stop this before it gets out of hand. But she has no idea the true strength of Michael who stops her and sets her and the house on fire. Tate jumps in at the last minute and saves Vivian while Michael disappears.
And so, with all the information they need, Madison and Chablis leave Murder House behind them.
That was insane.
We got a bunch of open ended timelines from season one wrapped up and we learned how evil and terrifying Michael Langdon really is. And also, how sad he is and what really drives his actions.
THIS SEASON IS THE BEST!
